Our focus is on Romans 12:1-2 today. Like many scriptures, I have read this over and again, but the Holy Spirit showed another side to this and I’ll like to share with you.

Romans 12:1-2: “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God- this is your TRUE and PROPER WORSHIP. Do not conform (comply with rules, standards or laws; to be similar in type, to behave according to socially acceptable conventions or standards) to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s Will is- His good, pleasing and perfect Will.” (emphasis mine)

Hmmm, what a mouthful! I decided to check out what ‘conform’ really meant. I’ve used it casually many times, but this time I decided to check it up on the dictionary and fit it into that verse of the Bible to understand what God was talking about there!

Now, these are the Four Lessons I want to share with you:

  1. I MUST do the offering of my body as a living sacrifice to God MYSELF. NO ONE ELSE can do it for me, not even God!
  2. My body MUST be holy and pleasing to God, because it is my true and proper worship. Even though those who must worship God must worship Him in spirit and in truth, the body also plays a role. For my proper and true worship to be complete, I must do it in my spirit and in my body- but a Holy body and one pleasing to God. God will not accept worship from just any kind of body.
  3. I MUST NOT conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of my mind. My mind can only be transformed by renewing it, not renew it or renewed it- it is an ONGOING Renewal. It is continuous tense- Renew(ING). If my mind is not subjected to consistent and ongoing renewal, then it will not stay transformed and the result is- I will conform to the patterns of this world. Renewing of my mind means feeding my mind with what I call “MIND FOOD- BOOKS!” The first Book in order of priority is the Holy Bible, and other Spirit-filled books can follow.
  4. After I have done all three above, then and only then am I able to Test and Approve what God’s Will is-His good, pleasing and perfect Will. It is only a life that does not conform to the patterns of this world, but transformed by the ongoing renewal of the mind that can rightly test and approve what God’s Will is- His good, pleasing and perfect Will. So, watch who to take your advice from.

Let us also all check and examine ourselves whether the Will of God we think we know to be true about our lives is truly understood by us.

It is God’s good, pleasing and perfect Will for everyone to reproduce after their kind – but have the first three criteria above been met, and if yes, how consistent?

Until we offer ourselves to God as a living sacrifice, until we refuse to conform, until we refuse to behave according to the standards of this world, until we consistently renew our minds so that our lives are transformed and remain so, we cannot truly claim to understand the depth of God’s Will for us in anything!

First things must always be first. Let us get things right at the base!

If this blesses you, please share, like, and leave a comment. Let us populate the airways with the good news of the gospel and raise Christians who are not chicken hearted, but bold as a lion, Christians who know God’s Will for their lives and will manifest same!
